De Waal Steyn passes away

HERMANUS – De Waal Steyn, former Editor of first the Hermanus Times and later the Village News died last night. I first met De Waal when we both worked as publishers for Media24. He was an extremely capable journalist with a good grasp of local community newspapers at the time. The move to start the Village News, focusing on good news was inspired and turned out to be a great success. De Waal in later years, had a massive stroke and was never quite the same but kept going with his first love, journalism through a facebook page. RIP De Waal – Gerard Grobler.
