Here he is: The Independent that is going to take on the big guns in ward 3

HERMANUS – “I am Peter Dizzy, a long-time Hermanus resident whose family ties to Ward 3 date back to 1917, when my father was born on Harbour Road. I am deeply passionate about our environment and the unique sense of place that defines Hermanus—a spirit best encapsulated right here in Ward 3, where my family home stands.

I firmly oppose party politics in local government. An elected representative should answer directly to the residents of their ward, not to a political party.

I support responsible development, provided it operates within parameters set to preserve our town’s character and respects our finite infrastructure—such as water supply, sewerage capacity, and power generation. I will work to establish these parameters alongside the many capable, visionary talents within our community.

Most people who know me understand that my main focus is protecting and managing our pristine natural environment, specifically the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. As demonstrated through our work with Friends of Fernkloof, real change happens when the public gets involved.

One of my greatest concerns is the complete lack of transparent, authentic, and effective public participation—a issue felt across our region, particularly in Ward 3. I will not vote to pass any council resolution that has not been sufficiently evaluated and commented on by the public. No more tick-box exercises.  As an independent representative, I will answer solely to the residents of Ward 3, unconstrained by party mandates. I aim to bring fresh energy and vision to our ward and greater Hermanus by asking:

Imagine if…  Imagine if we all actually had a say in how we are governed.  Imagine if we guided development using proper, sustainable parameters that we determine.  Imagine if our voices were not only heard, but actively acted upon.  Imagine if we didn’t have to continuously fight the very people elected to serve us.  I want to bridge the disconnect between the electorate and local government, inspiring all of us to take responsibility for our daily surroundings.

No single person can fully serve a community as large and diverse as Ward 3 on their own; it will take a team of dedicated volunteers. Fortunately, our ward holds immense resources—wealth, experience, and vision. Together, we can achieve anything in our best interest.

The choice facing Ward 3 residents is simple: do you want a representative who answers to a political party—often against your wishes—or a representative who answers only to you? The choice is entirely yours.  I have consistently worked to protect Fernkloof Nature Reserve, guide the development of De Mond, and raise concerns regarding unsustainable “growth at all costs” and the growing disparities in our greater community. As your independent voice, I will continue to fight for our shared future.” Ed: Copy provided

Peter yes, the 101 of democratic politics which our unaccountable “alliance” seems to have forgotten. Your word on baboons from would be a clincher.
